This tour takes us to one of the most pictoresque part of Tuscany: the Val d'Orcia. The tour start in Montepulciano, with its Medieval delightful alleyways and plethora of Renaissance palaces and churches. This village was used as a backdrop for the movie "A midsummer's night tale".
The vineyards around the town produce a wonderful wine called "Vino Nobile di Montepulciano".
After exploring this jewel we head towards the village of Pienza which sits as a testament to one man's ambition and ego. At the height of the 15th-century Renaissance, humanist Pope Pius II, with the help of architect Bernardo Rossellino, converted the tiny village in which he had been born into the ideal Renaissance city.
Pienza was also used as a backdrop for such movies as Zeffirelli's "Romeo and Juliet" and " Minghella's "The English Patient".
