This tour is a rather interesting combination of art and craftmanship. We will leave Florence around 9.00 am and drive directly to Santa Maria Degli Angeli, near Assisi, where we will visit the "Porziuncola", the death place of St. Francis.
Our next stop will be Assisi, where we will be able to observe first hand the fantastic and recently restored frescoes of Cimabue and Giotto. This were patiently reassembled by restorers after the terrible earthquake of 1997 that struck the Basilica.
We will then visit the small "vicoli" of this enchanting town that dominates the Umbria region and then move to Deruta, the ceramic capital of Umbria since 15th century.
Some of the finest local artisans will be opening their workshops to let us see how they create their masterpieces. For those who are interested we can substitute Deruta with a visit to Cortona.
